Uncertainty can definitely be uncomfortable. Many of us prefer stability and a predictable future to an unknown fate. The reality is that in our fast-changing, unpredictable world there are few guarantees in life. It’s those who are willing to embrace uncertainty and make the risky decision to follow Jesus despite the many “unknowns” who will reap the greatest rewards.

Our Lenten study, Embracing the Uncertain invites readers to engage and wrestle with life’s uncertainties, not ignore them. Each chapter is a gospel story which is a signpost pointing down at a world filled with uncertainty, but pointing forward to a cross that can show us how to follow Jesus with      courage, hope, and obedience.

The Lenten study will be on Tuesdays from 11:30-1:00 p.m. and includes a soup lunch.  We also offer an evening study on Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m.  Come join in the discussion as we look to embracing the uncertain in a time of transition.

Evening Book Club

The Evening Book Club usually meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Hope, 6:30pm. Please join us for some great reads! Make sure to check with the office before 2:00 to confirm that this hasn’t changed.

Holy Week Events

This year Holy Week will begin on Sunday, March 25th, Palm Sunday with an Easter musical entitled Redeemer to be sung by the Hope choir during worship.  This is a special way to embrace the joy and the pain of Jesus’ last week of his life. From Sunday through Friday there will be prayer stations in the sanctuary and narthex and you are invited to share in these experiences.

On Tuesday there will be the final Lenten study at 11:30 a.m. On Maundy Thursday, March 29th there will be two opportunities to participate in a meal with Pastor Laurie and Holy Communion.  There will be a lunch served at 12:00 p.m. followed by Holy Communion and a simple supper served at 6:00 p.m. also including communion.  Pastor Laurie will    preside at both meals and you, your family and friends are invited to participate in the meals as we move closer to Easter.  Please sign up in the Narthex.

Our Good Friday service will be a service Tenebrae, of darkness, as we walk with Jesus to the cross and witness his death.  This service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and will end in the darkness of Jesus’ death.

Easter morning brings with it the light and love of resurrection! Hope will have two services – the 8:00 a.m. early service and the 10:00 a.m. traditional service.  Both will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection with music, prayer, praise and word.

Between the services, beginning at 8:45 a.m. there is a free Easter breakfast in the Fellowship Hall and just prior to the second service there will be a children’s time where the Easter story will be told and the children can celebrate together.

Easter is the heart of the Christian faith.  As you continue to grow in your faith you are invited to take part in these special Holy Week events.
