Duluth Mental Health Support & Education Group for Families – NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) sponsors free support groups for families and friends of individuals living with a mental illness. Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences. A family support group meets in Duluth from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by an educational meeting from 7:00-8:00 p.m., on the last Tuesday of the month, at Miller Dwan Hospital, 502 E. 2nd St., in conference room 3. Parkinson’s Dance Studio welcomes persons with Parkinson’s, other movement challenges, and their families and friends on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, 1:00-2:15 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth. Suggested donation: $3 per person or $5 per family/friend group. You may dance in your chair throughout, or dance at the barre or across the floor as class time progresses.
