It’s a new year, a new decade and a new day at Hope UMC, so of course we’re starting a new sermon series about change: Change? for sure!
When I was younger, I was very change averse. Now though, to be honest, my faith has compelled me to learn to embrace and maybe even love change. As Christians, we are called to change. We are resurrection people; new life is in our DNA. And the reality is that most people, most churches are resistant to change.
Still, Jesus calls us to change our lives, not just change our clothes.
And, if a sermon series about change hasn’t got you freaked out, the United Methodist Church will! We are in a period of potential dramatic change. So, let’s talk about it!
After church this Sunday we will show Bishop Ough’s statement about the most recent proposal for General Conference 2020 and we’ll have a Q & A with Marcia Bowker, our Ad Council Chair, and Sarah to follow.
